Open the app at the till and take the photo. Crumpled and badly lit is fine.
The model reads the merchant, the date, the tax and each line item, and keeps the items rather than flattening them into one total.
It lands in your expenses already categorised. If it guessed wrong, change it once and move on.

Point one mail filter at it, say everything from auto-confirm@amazon.ca, and those orders file themselves while you are asleep. There is a click-by-click guide inside the app for Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail.
A grocery run is rarely all groceries. Xpento reads each line on its own, so the milk goes under Groceries, the shampoo under Hair & Cosmetics and the cat food under Pet Care, not the whole receipt under whichever one came first.
Keep a To Buy list and the same receipt checks it for you. Whatever you bought gets ticked off. Whatever you forgot stays on the list, including the times you bought one when the list said two.

I built this because I had a drawer of receipts and a banking app that could tell me I spent $84.32 at Whole Foods but not that half of it was one week’s worth of chicken.
